Plus 234Art Fair 2024: A New Heritage

EcoBank Plc and Africa Finance Corporation present their first pilot edition art fair in Lagos under the umbrella name “Plus 234Art,” a name coined by merging Nigeria’s country code (+234) together with the encompassing term “Art.” And the art fair will be curated by SOTO Gallery, a contemporary art space in the heart of Lagos. 

This year’s exhibition, entitled “A New Heritage,” will showcase over two hundred emerging artists and creatives across the country at the EcoBank Pan African Centre, 270B Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue, Victoria Island, Lagos, from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily, between March 22 and 31, 2024. The Plus 234Art Fair serves as an all-encompassing representation of the contemporary Nigerian art scene and its interconnectedness with the broader African and global art community.

The free-entry fair offers an immersive showcase of affordable art, painting, sculpture, and photography, as well as physical and virtual installations, providing the public with an up-close look at the latest creative endeavors of emerging artists and photographers in Nigeria. 

Also, the art fair will feature eight masterclasses and panel sessions: “African Art in the Global Art Market,” presented by Florence Lynch, Senior Director of Marc Straus Gallery, New York, USA, on Saturday, March 23rd, at 2 p.m.; and “Beyond Gallery Walls: Navigating Biennales and Museums in Contemporary Art,” moderated by Ebun Ikenze, on Sunday, March 31st, at 4 p.m., to name a few.

Omon Anenih will be anchoring one of the four workshops, “Dew Wellness Workshop,” on Monday, March 25th, between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. And Nadine Siegert, director of Goethe Institute Nigeria, will anchor the workshop, “Grant Writing,” on Thursday, March 28th, between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
